Waterfalls in Mosfellsbær
Kaldakvísl
Kaldakvísl hugs the north side of Grímansfell before flowing into Leirvogur.
Tungufoss is just below the ring road.
Above the ring road there’s a small waterfall.
Helgufoss is the nicest waterfall in Kaldakvísl. There’s parking close by and a well-marked footpath.
About 100m above Helgufoss there’s Litlifossinn (“the small waterfall”).
Various rivers
The Varmá river flows through the town of Mosfellsbær. There’s a small waterfall called Álafoss close to an old wool factory of the same name. It’s a pretty unattractive area.
Búrfellsfoss is in the river Seljadalsá southwest of the town, right next to the road.
Tröllafoss is the most impressive waterfall in the capital area and well worth a visit. There’s a signposted track towards the waterfall on the south bank, but to get a good photograph you have to be on the north side. Park near the farm of Hrafnhólar and walk about 1km along the north bank.
