Below the south entrance of the Ólafsfjarðarmúli road tunnel a tall waterfall called Mígandisfoss falls directly into the sea. Quite the sight. A bit further south, close to the road, there are waterfalls in Skötulækur and Sauðá.

On the north side of Svarfaðardalur valley there is a very nice waterfall in Þverá with the name of Steindyrafoss. It’s a short hike from the road.

Svarfaðardalur branches out into Skíðadalur valley, to the south.

• Close to the road there is a pretty spot where Þverá (different one from above) comes down from the mountains. The best waterfalls are not visible from the road, but also not far from it.

• On the north side of the valley there are waterfalls in Lambá and Ytri-Sæluá that are clearly visible from the road.

On the east side of Svarfaðardalur there is quite a nice waterfall Goðafoss in Hofsá. It’s right behind a farm so for a good shot you would like need to knock on their door for permission.
